Counselling
I am a justice-oriented counsellor that offers individual and couples sessions over video call.
Relationality: My approach is rooted in systemic, holistic, and anti-colonial understandings of wellness. In counselling, I understand the relationship to be the foundation of the work we do together. This means I believe we co-create a safe and supportive relationship together that then provides space for nurturance and transformation. I want to work with you to uphold and expand upon your inner healing abilities and natural capacity for growth. At the same time, I recognize individual wellness is inherently connected to collective experiences and liberation. Counselling is not neutral, especially in the systems we live in.
Orientation: The counselling theories that influence my trauma-informed practice are interpersonal, experiential, somatic, internal family systems, and solution-focused, which I interweave with my own cultural ancestral worldview. I also infuse influence from queer theory, disability justice, and transformative justice. In addition, I endeavour to remain culturally safe and affirming, with full acknowledgement that it is not a static destination, but a place of fluidity. Unfortunately, I am only able to offer services in English, so if you require interpretation, check out viccir.org, where I also practice.
Alignment: I work best with people who have some stability in their lives and are ready to delve into and work through past wounds, pains, and traumas. I am not afraid to get into the deep and heavy stuff, and I will be with you throughout the process. Unfortunately, however, I cannot be available for emergency calls or crises.
In my counselling practice, I aim to be as open, transparent, and accountable as possible. I am constantly learning as a counsellor, community member, and human being. I would be so honoured to walk alongside you and witness your journey. Thank you for considering me as your counsellor.
I have experience working with people struggling with:
Racial identity/racism
