Slow down: A zine for helpers on navigating saviourism

For my Master’s capstone project, I developed a zine on saviourism! It encourages reflection and explores the definition, roots, and harms of saviourism, as well as alternatives for engagement through anti-colonial and socially just frameworks.

You can find the online, printable, and plain text versions here: macayla.info/slow-down-zine

Blog Posts

With the encouragement of some incredible people, I started a blog! Click the button below to visit it or click the photo of camas flowers to go directly to the first post on Anti-Racist Blogging.

Cultivating Growth and Solidarity

Last year, I co-created an accessible and interactive anti-racism zine for Asians. It is available for free to download and/or print and also comes with a facilitation guide.

You can find it at growthandsolidarity.ca/zine

The Abundance Collective

Rejuvenation spaces for racialized 2SLGBTIQ+ community! Pre-pandemic, we cooked and ate meals together in person, and now we gather monthly online on the third Wednesday of the month. We also host workshops regularly and are in the process of publishing our third zine. We hope you can join us! Find us on instagram @the.abundance.collective.

Local Coast Salish Place Names.jpg

This is a map I created in 2015 of local place names based on the book Salt Water People by Dave Elliot Sr. (1990) with the help of Emily Thiessen.

Note: “Coast Salish” and “Straits Salish” are colonially imposed labels based on linguistic categorization.
